Redmi has confirmed the launch of the K50 series in China. The company will debut its flagship series in China on February 16. Redmi is expected to introduce multiple phones under the premium lineup. Among the first set of devices is likely the Redmi K50 Gaming Edition.
Redmi officials had previously revealed that a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1-powered device under the K50 series will debut first. It is being widely rumoured that this phone is the Redmi K50 Gaming Edition. The teaser invite reveals the design of the rear panel as well. Let’s take a look at the Redmi K50 series launch, specifications and other details.
Redmi K50 series is set to be the next premium smartphone range from the Xiaomi sub-brand. It will debut on February 16. The teaser image shows the device’s rear panel in blue colour. The device has a triple-camera module, with the sensors aligned vertically. The camera module has LED lights around the sensors with the “Freezing” and “Speediest” text similar to the Redmi K40 Gaming Edition. Therefore, it is safe to assume that the device teased in the invite is indeed the K50 Gaming.
The device will continue to feature shoulder trigger buttons that can be customised for various games. Xiaomi has not officially confirmed any other details of the device. However, the rumour mill has got us covered.
The Redmi K50 Gaming Edition is expected to feature a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate support. It will have a hole-punch cutout at the top centre for the front camera. The screen will be flat on the sides and come with fairly thin bezels.
The rear camera setup is expected to house a 64MP main sensor, coupled with a 13MP ultrawide camera and a 5MP macro lens. Xiaomi will feature a 16MP front camera sensor in the K50 Gaming Edition for selfies and video calls. The phone is confirmed to pack a 4700 mAh battery and support 120W fast charging out of the box.
As mentioned above, the K50 Gaming is rumoured to feature a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC. It will come with up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. The Redmi gaming flagship will run Android 12-based MIUI 13 in China.
Xiaomi could launch the device outside China as the Poco F4 GT. In China, the K50 Gaming is rumoured to launch for CNY 3,499 (roughly Rs 41,300). It is advised to take the leaked pricing details with a pinch of salt.
